Ten Years of War

War has more and more come to be accepted as just part of modern life.
It is no longer the last resort, the last insane act of desperate peoples forced to protect their homes, their children, their freedoms.
Instead it has become an all too common option in diplomatic efforts - unimaginative failed diplomatic efforts as they may be.
Our military, our hammer - world diplomacy, our nail.
In the process our government has become expert in selling and maintaining perpetual war employing two simple tactics.
The first - no draft - insuring that only a small minority of Americans actually have to sacrifice anything.
The second - control the media – non-reporting - when was the last time you saw reporting that depicted war for what it is?
It is frequently not even mentioned on the evening news anymore as Weiner's weenie and Lady Gaga crowd it out.
Meanwhile hundreds of thousands die; millions are displaced from their homes.
And we ask with big bright eyes and flashing lids - Why do they hate us so?
Blowing babies into little bits is not collateral damage.
It is insanity, INSANITY.
Let me say it one more time because I know modern times have numbed you to such words - IT IS INSANITY.
Perpetual war is NOT just another aspect of modern life, it is insane and it needs to stop.
But it doesn’t stop; it doesn't stop for two simple and incredibly sad reasons.
One - we don’t care - it doesn’t touch our lives.
Two - it is the means for the greatest transfer of wealth from the masses to the very, very few in all of recorded history.
Trillions of dollars.
The money doesn’t go to bombs - it goes into the pockets of the people making the bombs - and it is enough money to explain it all.
Ten years of war and counting.
